I love this silkscreened tshirt by Rotterdam based designer Stiksel. Seriously, if you want to get me a present, for any reason, this is a good one. I'm a size large in American Apparel. Love these tea towels too, but I can't wear them... You can see more on her Etsy Shop.

even the packaging looks good
Wow, this packaging is some of the most exciting I've seen in a while! It was designed by Pearlfisher for Jamie Oliver's new Jme line of food and kitchen products. I love the playful use of language and type and the vintage-meets-contemporary feel.

wrap it up
I saw this super cute wrapping paper on Print & Pattern and wanted it instantly. Designed by Swedish illustrator Bo Lundberg for UK retailer lagom's Spring 2009 collection, it somehow manages to look both antique and modern at the same time. Too bad I already have more wrapping paper than I could ever use.

fabric type
I love Australian artist and designer Rachel Castle's embroidery and applique artwork. She has a lot of fun with type.

good riddance
I stumbled across Chris Piascik's type illustrations on flickr recently and was truly inspired. He posts a new drawing every day, straight from his moleskine sketchbook, which is just amazing. This one seems appropriate for this most special day...

yes you can
I just love this poster by UK designer Adam Ellison. Such a clever idea. From his website: "I produced and distributed 200 posters that challenged people to make a change, and continue to make positive changes in the world." Sounds very Barack Obama-esque to me...

found type - aurora (part 1)
I took these photos on Aurora Avenue about a year ago. There's so much to look at on that street, but I am always struck by the number and variety of signs. Here's a sampling - more to come.

six scents
I came across this packaging for Six Scents perfume a couple of months ago on the Dieline. For some reason I just remembered it today... I love the clever use of an ampersand and 6 in the logo, and the variation in how type is incorporated into each design. I can't decide which one I like best...

I like this new logo for Greater Montreal - it's bright and playful. It's even more fun on their website.

type for kids?
I found this amazing book on SeeSaw Designs. It was designed by Brighten the Corners, a UK firm. From their website: "A story about caring, mending and letting go drawn entirely with letters and punctuation marks." Pretty effing adorable!

giant squid ink
I saw this on the Dieline.com the other day and instantly loved the intricate, hand-drawn (?) monogram. Why aren't more art supplies packaged this beautifully?

maps n' diagrams
I love Christoph Niemann's Abstract City blog for the NY Times. Our map discussion in class today reminded me of this entry. Not all of these are maps, but they sure are fun. And potentially useful!
I am also reminded of one of my favorite comedians, Demetri Martin, whose new show is set to debut on Comedy Central in February. He does amazingly hilarious things with charts, graphs and illustrations... His website is pretty annoying, but here's an example of what he does from Comedy Central (whose website is also kind of annoying).

It’s pretty geeky, but I’ve had my eye on this Across the Univers shirt for a while. I never could resist a good Beatles lyric/typeface pun...

wtf, might as well start a blog
I am starting this blog to fulfill an assignment for my Experimental Typography class. We have to keep a type journal all quarter. I decided this might be a good moment to try out this whole blogging thing that all the kids are talking about... here goes!
