My friend Madoka Ito and her husband John MacEachern recently moved to Kyoto (where Madoka is from) and so I don't know if they've had time to make a lot of art lately. But I really like this 'Cyclectic Art' they were making. Madoka is a painter - she draws and/or paints on wood panels and John, who is a sculptor, builds the apparatus that houses them. The end result is, as they tell it, an "interactive, mechanical, moving painting / sculpture." It's an interesting take on narrative - sort of a visual choose your own adventure.
